Our cycling historian, Rod Charles, reports…
Had a major win at a Woodend auction recently when I was able to find a bound volume of The Australian Cyclist for the years 1897 and 1898. Work on volume 3 of A Whirr.. is coming along but a find like this enables me to add detail into volume1 for the future. In the first 20 pages I found a description of the first meeting of the Pivot Cycling Club and notes of a club I had little knowledge of, the Geelong Recreation Cycling Club. You would think in over 600 pages I could get it right but It seems the story will continue to expand.
We await the online appendices for Rod’s ever-expanding project.
