Cycling Clubs and Organisations

Bike Safe – Bike Safe is an advocacy group for cyclists, and is responsible for a large number of initiatives to improve cycling in the region.

Barwon Bicycle Users Group – Advocacy group focusing on community and recreational needs for cycling.  Barwon BUG Facebook Page

Bellarine Bicycle Users Group (Bellarine BUG)- Advocacy group focusing on community and recreational needs for cycling in the northern Bellarine Peninsula.

Lara Bicycle Users Group (formerly Lara Legends) – Advocacy and cycling group focused on the Lara area.

Cycling Geelong – recreational cycling, cycling safety, and support for cyclists.  Cycling Geelong provides a weekly program of rides from easy to difficult.

Geelong Touring Cyclists – recreational cycling and touring.  A group of the club members  recently returned from riding from Land’s End to John ‘O Groats in the UK.  In 2014, a small group of riders rode from Perth to Adelaide.  Weekly local rides are held each Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Life Activities Group – Life Activities Group is supported by City of Greater Geelong, and provides a large number of activities for older residents, including a cycling group.

Port Pedallers – recreational cycling and touring.  This group is of mainly older people and is based in Portarlington.

SpringDale Wheelie Riders – Drysdale-based recreational cycling group.

Geelong Cycling Club  (racing)

Geelong Veterans Cycling Club (racing)

Bicycle Network (formerly Bicycle Victoria) – provides advocacy and organises massed rides like The Great Victorian Bike Ride and Around the Bay in a Day.  Members receive cycling insurance.

Audax Australia – Australia’s premier long-distance cycling organisation.  Audax holds weekly, non-competitive, events in all states.  A number of these are in or near Geelong.  Rides are from 50 to 1200 kilometers in length, with a time limit for completion.

Wheel Women Geelong part of Wheel Women – The aim is simply to get more women out riding and confident on their bikes. It runs rides and skills courses.

    I’m a keen rider living on the Bellerine looking to join a group or just a few ppl to cycle with. Love going long distances could this type of group assist me with that?
