Vision Statement

To foster a vibrant and inclusive community of cyclists, promoting health, fitness, and enjoyment through social cycling rides and events, while advocating for safe and sustainable cycling infrastructure that supports the growth of cycling as a viable and enjoyable mode of transport.

Our Mission

To provide regular, accessible, and enjoyable cycling experiences for people of all ages and skill levels in the Geelong, Surf Coast and Bellarine regions, encouraging a healthy, sustainable lifestyle and building a sense of community.

Strategic Objectives

  1. Increase Membership
    • Attract a minimum of thirty five new members over the next three-year period through targeted marketing, member referral and increased community engagement. (Phased approach Yr 1 - 10, Yr 2 - 10, Yr 3 – 15)
  2. Enhance Club Rides and Events

    • Host regular rides of various difficulty levels (e.g., beginner, intermediate, and advanced) every weekend and on at least two weekdays.

    • Host early morning rides – to appeal to a broader age group.

    • Offer a greater variety of start times for rides.

    • Organise/collaborate with other organisations on an annual event such as a charity ride or cycling festival to raise awareness of Cycling Geelong and encourage participation.

  3. Community Engagement & Advocacy for Safe Cycling Infrastructure

    • Promote opportunities to ‘have your say’ to the community, position Cycling Geelong as a key stakeholder in local cycling projects including planning and provide feedback and/or advocate for more bike lanes, secure bike parking, and safe cycling.

    • Offer advice and support on bike maintenance, road safety, and cycling etiquette to members and the broader community.

    • Collaborate with local councils or organisations to promote cycling infrastructure improvements and safer cycling routes.

  4. Increase Visibility and Branding

    • Develop and maintain a user-friendly website and active social media presence.

    • Create club merchandise for members and others to build identity and promote the club in the community.

  5. Financial Stability and Sustainability

    • Implement a membership fee system that sustains club activities, covering the costs of events, equipment, and insurance.

    • Address the increasing age of the membership by attracting a broader age range of cyclists through targeted marketing and events.

    • Seek sponsorship from local businesses, especially those involved in cycling, health, or environmental sustainability.

    • Diversify club offerings to include programs that appeal to a broader audience including attracting more female riders and younger riders, assisting in achieving long-term sustainability.
