Goldfields Weekend: September 28-30th – NEW PLACES AVAILABLE

Due to some unforeseen illnesses there are now a few places available for the ever-popular Goldfields Tour.

This year’s ride is based in St Arnaud, with rides to points of interest, including a winery lunch ride.

Allan Marshall, ride organiser, has spend many hours finding the most interesting and safest rides over this years Grandfinal Weekend.

Allan works hard to keep costs down so, if your budget it tight, you should still be able to manage this weekend.  Transport and accommodation are already organised.  All that’s needed is you, your bike and your overnight bag.

For you footy addicts, Saturday afternoon is reserved for the Grand Final (and there’s lots to do in the local area for those otherwise inclined).

For more details contact Allan Marshall (0418 992 672) as soon as possible (deadline September 5th so details can be finalised).

Goldfields Tour 2017

Friday September 29th – Sunday October 1st (Grand Final Long Weekend)

Allan Marshall has once again organised this splendid weekend of cycling, friendship and sight seeing.

This tour is fully supported – the Cycling Geelong bike trailer is being refurbished, and there will be motor vehicles accompanying all rides, should anyone need a break.  Allan has organised some excellent places to eat like Blue Pyrenees Winery and Maryborough Golf Club.

For more details please contact Allan Marshall (0418 992 672).  Booking is very tight due to other events in the region and the long weekend, so , if you’re interested, please contact Allan as soon as possible.

Maryborough, anyone? A cycling weekend for all

A couple of years ago, Allan organised a weekend of rides around the Maryborough area (Allan’s home town).  It was most successful.  He’s prepared to run another similar event, but as a two-day ride.  He’s seeking expressions of interest from Cycling Geelong members and their friends.

The suggestion is to take the club bike trailer with bikes on the Friday afternoon, with plans for a two day ride starting from Maryborough early on Saturday with an overnight stop at one of the following towns in the Golden Triangle – Newstead, Maldon, Avoca, St Arnaud, Talbot, Clunes etc.

The support vehicle/s would carry gear for the overnight stop, before returning to Geelong lat on Sunday afternoon.

The roads are good sealed roads, and are used for racing by Maryborough Cycling Club.

Allan suggests October or November as the best months for this weekend ride.  This area is beautiful, and full of history.  It’s also a tourist Mecca for those who don’t wish to ride – lots of shopping, attractions etc.  for non-cycling partners and family members.

Please contact Allan if you’re interested in taking part in this tour.
