Record crowds at Saturday Morning Barwon River Ride

25 cyclists met to participate in Cycling Geelong’s weekly Saturday morning River Ride meeting at Balliang Sanctuary.  A great turnout and once again a great ride with the sun poking through the sky mid morning.  As one member who doesn’t attend that Saturday rides that often I was reminded of the great conversation, camaraderie and coffee had by these Saturday morning rides.  It’s a very easy ride only 20km and not too fast and coffee at The Edge afterwards is a great time to catch up with everyone.  I’m not biased but it’s a great club to be involved in.  Come along for our Saturday ride sometime.  Happy cycling everyone. IMG_2809 IMG_2817 IMG_2818 IMG_2820 IMG_2823 IMG_2824 IMG_2825 IMG_2826 IMG_2828

“Allan’s Goldfield’s Ride Weekend”

A great weekend had by all at Allan’s Goldfield’s Ride Weekend.

Four cars and a trailer departed on Friday 2nd of October from Allan’s house at approximately 2pm heading for Laneecorie Lakeside Park. Arriving at our destination at approximately 4:30pm we all settled into the very adequate accommodation that Allan kindly organised and set off for Newbridge Hotel for a spot of dinner.  Saturday Allan led us on a tour of Tarnagulla, admiring the churches, court house, police stables and other historical views before returning to the Laneecorie Lakeside Park for a barbecue.  The trailer was then packed up on Sunday with bikes in tow and we commuted to Maldon for a ride to Castlemaine.  Some of the attractions were the lookout with stunning views, the Information Centre and a tad of cycling around Castlemaine.  Allan’s knowledge of the towns was invaluable, Allan’s had put in alot of planning and work to make this weekend a success.

Tea at Newstead Hotel on Friday night.

Karen’s Kruisy Ride 2.0 Sunday 20th September

Five cyclists left from Corio Library on Sunday bound for Lara for coffee.  Helen, Kelly, Ric, Rosemary and Karen.  Great to see Rosemary.  After a foggy start the sun emerged making for a very comfortable ride.  Rosemary was quite obsessed with the sun as it did retreat at times and Karen spotted some spotted pigs much like Dalmations.  Ric and Kelly bantered on a fair bit and Helen was  gracious as always is the case.  Much conversation was had and alot of laughs.  We all arrived at Lara at approximately 9:30am at Espresso Lounge for a coffee outside.  A great ride had by all at a distance of approximately 32km in total.  Karen's Kruisy Ride 2015
