Doug led the first post-lockdown river ride. It was a cold, still sunny morning – perfect for cycling. With a field of 13 riders, Doug asked David to lead a second group, with the groups setting out a couple of minutes apart. However, before the start, Doug handed members of each group a chant, to be yelled at the top of voices. He also had a post-lockdown poem to share.
The river path was busy, but quite navigable. At the Breakwater, Hermann joined the ride, and Tina and Gavin (who is still recovering from surgery) greeted the group for a quick chat.
Helen didn’t make it all the way around due to bike problems, pulling out near West Fyans Street for a car ride home. The rest of the group congregated at Barwon Edge for take-away refreshments.
Perhaps it was jinx day as Doug reports a broken gear cable cramped his style on the ride home.
Thanks Doug and David for leading a most enjoyable ride.
