Weather conditions couldn’t have been better for a pleasant friendly ride to Point Lonsdale. Five riders assembled at Eastern Park – David S, Karen, Kelly, Neville and Helen (ride leader).
As Ormond Road was closed for road works, the ride began with an urban ride through streets of Newcombe to Coppards Road, then continued to Point Lonsdale via the Bellarine Highway. Traffic was fairly light, with lots of hotted up old cars en route to the Hot Rod event at Queenscliff. Despite some traffic noise, this is a good route – with wide sealed shoulders.
The refreshment stop was at Plated – where the ‘roadies’ were soon joined by the mountain bike junkies who’d ridden with Dave on the rail trail from Drysdale.
With a bit of a tail wind, the road group had an easy ride back to Geelong, with a couple of rest stops for tired legs. The ride was completed by noon.
Thanks to everyone who made this a most enjoyable ride.
