Drysdale Ride, Thursday 27th April 2017

Today we had 7 riders (Dave, Michael, Dirk, Paul, Joe, Kevin & Roger) from Cycling Geelong plus a ‘guest’ rider that we met along the way, Peter C from Grovedale who rode with us. Peter is newly retired and is a potential new member.

The weather stayed pretty kind and we had just a light sprinkle of rain a couple of times, certainly better than how it’s been over the past few days!

It’s good to see the long awaited road improvements progressing at Drysdale, soon it will be possible to ride along the High St safely. We rode back from our coffee stop at Cafe Zoo via Princess St and the Rail Trail, through a little bit of mud, and used the new crossing at Drysdale Station.

We had some excitement on the return on the trail near Curlewis when Paul suggested that we could, using some teamwork, clear a fallen tree from the path, see pics. The team did a great job, leaving the way almost clear of the tree, just a small amount of work left for COGG to remove via chainsaw.
