Thanks to ride leader Tina for this report. (See the rest of the pictures at https://cyclinggeelong.com.au/2017/03/14/full-moon-ride-lara-sunday-march-12th-2017/)
Our last full moon bike ride was attended by 9 members on Sunday 12th March. We met at Moorpanyal Park, The Esplanade, North Shore.
We set off around 6pm in daylight, the weather was perfect, warm and pleasant, as was the company. We had a leisurely ride along the foreshore past
industry to Geelong Grammar then onto Lara on a walk/bike track. We were all very happy with our meals at the Lara Hotel. A beautiful colourful sunset could be seen from where we were sitting eating our meal.
Soon after we left on our return journey darkness fell and we were all lit up front and back lights winking. We were all keen to see the moon but it didn’t show itself till literally the last minute as we arrived back at the start. One of the highlights for me was to hear that 5 of our riders
had never cycled in the dark at night before.
The next full moon is the 11th April and daylight saving time ends. Stay tuned for the next night ride.
