Kevin led around 16 cyclists on the river circuit. Because of member concerns about large groups of cyclists proving an issue for other path users, around 6 chose to cycle the anti-clockwise direction, with the whole group meeting up at Barwon Edge as usual for coffee.
The river path was very busy. As well as a rowing regatta for girls’ public schools, there were countless walkers, joggers and dogs (on and off the leash). The most difficult issue was coaching cyclists paying more attention to the rowing than the path, but, due to vigilance by Cycling Geelong members, there were not problems. The clockwise group stopped to view the large totem pole-like sculpture at Fyansford, which is finally open. The surrounds include a carved seat and paved area.
Thanks to Kevin for leading the ride.
