Garden Delights – October 23rd, 2016

Thanks to Rosemary Nugent (joint ride leader with Joy Barnett) for this report.

The Gardens Delights Trail Ride held on Sunday 23 October was a huge success!  After two days of rain, we were lucky that the sun came out to make the ride extremely pleasant.  Cyclists Joy, Rosemary, Barbara, Dirk, Lyndon (Lyntton? – Helen, do you know right spelling?) and Michelle were treated to amazing hospitality by people who were keen to show us around their stunning gardens. Hosts Silvana, Joy, Leesa and Robyn are to be congratulated for the presentation of their gardens.  We wove our way on our bikes to venues in Grovedale and Highton, admiring the veggies, herbs, camellias, roses, salvias, indigenous plants and garden art.  After riding along the creek and river to our final garden in Highton, we were spoilt by Robyn who plied us with home made muffins and fruit.  A coffee and chat at a café in Highton before riding back to the Grovedale Community Garden, was the finale to a delightful ride.
