At least 20 cyclists rode the Barwon River circuit with Cycling Geelong this morning, in bright sunshine and minimal wind. Michael L was ride leader.
Alex, as usual headed off up the trail to the Fyansford Mill and rejoined the group back on the sealed path on the northern side of the river. Despite a short section on the Hamilton Highway, he finds this preferable to riding the unsealed access road on the northern part of the track. We need your support to try to get this final couple of hundred metres of path completed at Fyansford. The current route, through an unsealed car park and along an unsealed access road, is poor, especially in the rocky section where it turns to rejoined the sealed path near the Hamilton Highway. In the next few weeks we’re asking all Barwon River path users to write to the City of Greater Geelong, asking that this missing link be completed with a new shared path to replace the car park/access road section.
Thanks to ride leader Michael and to David F who was tail end Charlie.
