As Stella mentioned in her ride report, on the return journey several riders took other options.
Dave, riding his ‘fat’ bike rode on to Ballarat. Here’s his story…
‘I ended up riding all the way to Ballarat then back to Skipton again, getting back to my car just after sunset at around 17:55, a total distance for the day of 111km, on the fat bike! I needed a rest day today!’
Dave also commented that, as a daylight ride, on a rail trail, he didn’t have lights on his bike. It was a race on the final few kilometres to beat the fall of darkness – there’s no lighting at all on the trail, and not much within Skipton. However, riding at dusk brought out the wildlife – large roos and wallabies and, like Stella’s group saw, echidnas.
Dave is now in training for Sunday’s BAD Ride out of Ballarat.
