Allan has confirmed that there are still places available for both riders and family to attend the Central Goldfields Tour from Friday 2nd (AFL Grandfinal Holiday) till Sunday 4th October. Contact Allan Marshall if you’re interested. Bike transport can be arranged on the club bike trailer and car pooling is being organised.
There is a choice of rides on both Saturday and Sunday, with of places for non-cyclists to visit in this beautiful and popular tourist area.
Accommodation is at Laanacoorie Lakeside Caravan Park. This is situated on the banks of beautiful Lake Laanacoorie which is centrally placed within the Golden Triangle. The accommodation is of high quality, and the surroundings natural lakeside bushland. Allan has organised a deal which includes linen.
SATURDAY’s tour is to Moliagul and Dunolly (for lunch) with the option of a different route on the return, or transport for bikes and riders back to the accommodation at Lake Laanacoorie Caravan Park.
SUNDAY’s tour is based on Castlemaine with a tour to historic Maldon.
Fuel for hungry cyclists
Allan plans well with the logistical experience of many fishing expeditions.
Allan plans to bring food for breakfasts and Saturday evening’s dinner (barbecue) will be at Laanacoorie Caravan Park. Saturday lunch is at the Dunolly Bakery. Sunday’s lunch is at The Five Flags Hotel at Campbell’s Creek near Castlemaine.
Briefing for participants
Those planning to attend are invited to come to a briefing on Saturday afternoon September 26th at 2pm at Soft Cafe in Minerva Road, Manifold Heights (near Church Street intersection).
