Cycling Geelong Annual General Meeting 2015

Around 30 members attended Cycling Geelong’s Annual General Meeting at Belmont Hotel on July 21st.

The out-going President, Peter Smith, reflected on the ongoing success of the club, with a membership which continues to grow and now stands at more than 80.  He thanked the outgoing committee who have worked tirelessly to make the club run smoothly.  In particular, David Jones, the retiring secretary has served the club in that capacity, as well as doing a number of years as Ride Co-ordinator.  He and Nancy have also been Team Leaders for Around the Bay in a Day for a number of years, organising the 250km route section from Drysdale to Queenscliff Road, via Portarlington and St Leonards.

John Miro, the Ride Coordinator, far from quoting dry statistics, assured us that in the past year, our Sunday riders have notched up enough kilometres to have ridden to Paris, topped by the Saturday group who cumulatively have ridden to Los Angeles.

Rod Charles made a vote of thanks to Peter, David and John (all of whom are retiring from their current offices in the club) and thanked the club for its support with his cycling history – A Whirr of Many WheelsHe especially thanked Nancy for organising the delicious afternoon tea at the recent launch of Volume II.
