Despite GTCs latest overseas jaunt (New Zealand), fourteen cyclists assembled to pedal a circuit to Lara and the You Yangs. Riders came from all directions – Russ from Waurn Ponds, Pam, Heather and Geoff from Lara, John and Sarah from Belmont/Highton area, David from Queens Park area, Marie from central Geelong, Ian from Norlane, Kelly and Karen from Corio, John M from North Geelong and Rolf and Helen from Rippleside.
The route through North Geelong led to scenic Bluestone Bridge Road, with its wonderful sweeping downhill to the 19th century bluestone railway bridge, before a sharp uphill to give panoramic views of the You Yangs, Corio Bay and Geelong. The ride then turned inland to Ballan Road, after a few ks the riders regrouped at Staceys Road (thanks for waiting for the leader). Staceys Road is quiet, fast (tail wind) before an even speedier downhill to Bacchus Marsh road where the route turned left to ride to the You Yangs via Windermere and Forest Roads. Four hardy cyclists – Rolf, Sarah, Karen and John M turned into the park to ride to the Flinders Peak car park. The main group continued on to Lara (Xpresso Caf Lounge & Bar) for refreshments.

The return trip was along Hovells Creek bike path and the waterfront (where the rider leader, leading from the rear as usual, was led astray from the planned route via Lascelles Wharf!).
