Russell’s ride to Barwon Heads was well supported. Russell, David (Jones and Fisher), John M, Allan, Rick and Kelly, Helen and Neville set off in good conditions to ride to Barwon Heads via Horseshoe Bend and Thirteenth Beach. As usual, it was a relief to leave the poor quality shoulders and heavy traffic of the Barwon Heads Road and turn south along Horseshoe Bend Road.
A short break for adjustments at Blackgate Road gave everyone the chance to catch up and have a drink. The Black Rock cycling path reminded us all how cycling should be – thanks to Bike Safe for this one.

We look forward to a time when off road paths and safe bike lanes make it so everyone can consider using the bike for short commutes.
Coffee at The Heads was most relaxing – and allowed time for the usual friendly cyclist banter. The circuit back to South Barwon was via Barwon Heads Road and Lake Road.
Thanks to leader Russell and all who went on this ride.
Don’t forget, if you have time on Wednesday mornings, Seniors Month rides start next Wednesday (1st October) at 9am at Balyang Sanctuary for a 20km river circuit with historical snippets from Rod.
