Saturday Barwon Ride: 9th June, 2014

This was Robert’s first ride as leader and he did a splendid job.  There were eleven riders on the Queens’ Birthday long weekend.

Despite the long weekend, pedestrian and bike traffic around the river path was just as busy as ever.

Barwon Edge was also ultra-busy but the service, as usual, was friendly.

Cycling Geelong’s Saturday rides were started over ten years ago, in response to the need for safe short rides for women taking the first of Maree Burn’s Cycology courses (which were initially a Vic Health initiative for women aged 35 and over).  They are also one of the main reasons for the good gender balance in the club.  They remain our most consistently popular rides.

Thanks to all riders who continue to make these rides so successful.
