Westfest: a cycling presence

Report from Rosemary Nugent

Maree Burn from Cycling Geelong organised a stall at WestFEST, a free community arts festival held in West Park, Geelong West, on Sunday 30 March.

This festival, organised by the Geelong West Neighbourhood House, had an emphasis on sustainability, and so Maree’s stall promoting cycling as a healthy and sustainable transport option, was popular!

Maree secured interest for the five week Bicycle Course she will be running starting 26 April. ‘Cycology for Women’ will help those wanting to learn the basic about bikes and cycling as well as develop skills and confidence. There are still places available (enrol online http://www.gwnh.org.au email info@gwnh.org.au).

Maree was pleased to have many Cycling Geelong helpers at the stall as it created a great atmosphere which attracted passers by at what was a wonderfully successful grassroots festival.
