Report from Geoff Andrews.
Stephanie and I thoroughly enjoyed working for Cycling Australia at the National Road Championships, held in Ballarat recently. Jen (Senior Events Co-ordinator, Cycling Australia) was very well organised, calm when potential issues arose, and showed excellent “listening skills” to any concerns or questions the Workforce employee had.
We worked the four days which meant some were a 12 hour day at Burrumbeet Time Trials, Sturt Street Criteriums, and the two days Road Racing at Mt. Buninyong. The workforce of 24 people came from various parts of Victoria, and even Perth & Alice Springs with a variety of ages & backgrounds.
Cycling Australia Staff were terrific motivators and showed care and concern constantly throughout the day and did their rounds to the workers every hour with bottled water, sunscreen, snacks, delicous lunches … made fresh daily from the Beechworth Bakery. During the Time Trails each worker was placed on a remote marshaling point with only the sheep and cattle to talk to for the whole day! The other days the marshaling spots were very busy with people and riders.
After the Men’s Road race, Cycling Aust. board members thanked us and to top it off Simon Gerrans (Gerro) the New Aust. Road Champion thanked us individually.
We are always only too happy to work for Cycling Australia Events whether Road, Track or Mountain Bike.
Safe Cycling
