Report by David Jones, Ride Leader
A mixture of riders set off from the Showgrounds at 8:30am sharp anxious to get to Drysdale as quickly as possible as strong NW winds were forecast for later in the morning.
It was good to see Russell Ison, Neville Clissold, Chris Rennick, Coralie Jenkin, John Miro and Stella Groves join Nancy and I.
The weather was pleasant sunny on the trail to Drysdale. Michael Hogg, a new rider introduced by Barry Clay on the Saturday morning ride, joined us at Curlewis. Russell and Neville left the trail and rode directly to Drysdale to avoid the gravel section and to reserve a table at Cafe Zoo for us all.
Members of the Touring Club also arrived for coffee, with Simon Watt admiring Coralie’s Brompton.
After coffee we said goodbye to Russell and Neville who rode directly home while we rode the Wyndham Road route to avoid the awkward right turn at Railway Crescent.
The north west wind had got going on the return so we were thankful for the shelter of trees along the trail.
We left Michael at his red roofed home beside the trail near Christies Road. He extended an invitation for club members to call in if they needed assistance.
At Melaluka Road Nancy branched off to Leopold Shopping centre to do some shopping, to be picked up later by me.
The wind was quite strong on the open section heading into Geelong and the Showgrounds was thankfully reached at 11:50am.
A very pleasant mornings 36km ride,
David Jones
